Korum quick change beads
This is a product which has really helped in our fishing. Saves loads of time fiddling around with tricky knots on those cold winter days.

We have been using these beads for the last two years for our match style fishing and For feeder fishing and running lead rigs on the rivers for chub and barbel. Instead of the traditional bead then a swivel to connect the hook link to the main line, you have it all in one with a quick change bead.

A quick change bead spits into two separate pieces, you thread the line through the centre of the round piece and tie a grinner knot to the second piece. We love using them because when you open them up you find a small connector hook where you can loop on hook links without cutting any line. It has saved us many hook links which we can now save for another session. All it means is you need to make up your hook links with a loop rather than a swivel which some people think is not as strong but we have had no problem with it at all.

A product which saves time and hook links!

Woody's River Wagglers
Woody's River Wagglers
Carl and I popped into Woody's tackle shop on our recent trip to the River Wye. Having asked us where we were staying, Woody instantly drew us a map showing us the best spots to try. We wanted to do a bit of float fishing so he recommended we try waggler for the chub, so we bought a few of his own Woody's floats to try throughout our stay on the Wye.

Having used Woody's wagglers while fishing the Wye here is our review:

Firstly, the float is made from a very buoyant material so in fast flowing rapids or bumpy water the float is visible and it is easy to see bites. We were trotting the float at least 25metres downstream and I could pick up the smallest bites from minnows.

Secondly, the eye of the float was not covered by any paint or plastic so threading the line through the float was not a problem as it is on many plastic wagglers.

The floats cast well and I can see them working well especially on the bigger rivers in the UK. I was casting 15 yards with ease which was half way across the Wye.

I would definitely recommend these floats if you're wanting to cast to the far side flow of the bigger than average rivers. I used 2 sizes of the floats. Both performed well and did the job of casting all day perfectly.

Take a look in Woody's Tackle shop in Hereford. We have always found Woody to be very helpful and his shop stocks a wide range of tackle.

Rating: 9/10

Underwater Angling - Book Review
Underwater Angling - Book Review
A review of the book 'Underwater Angling' by Paul Garner and Stuart Morgan
Paul Garner is a good friend of ours so when he told us he was writing a book we were very interested. Paul is not one to do things by halves so we expected it to be good!

We were at the Kent Angling Show when we had the chance to buy ourselves a copy!

Whilst we were at the show we did have a quick flick through and were impressed by the crisp, clean and colourful images and also very interested in the photos of tackle and bait underwater. Finally, we would be able to see exactly whet goes on beneath the surface!

Once we were at home we did not get the chance to read through the whole book until a week or so later when I had a few quiet evenings.

I looked at the contents and was very glad to see subjects such as waggler fishing, river pike fishing, ledgering bread and barbel rigs. This was pleasing to say the least as most books simply cover carp fishing and nothing else. Underwater Angling does however have a fair few chapters on zig rigs, spods, chods and more so there really is something in this book for everyone.

I had a read of the 'How lakes work' chapter and was impressed by just how many features lakes have. Blimey, first page turned and I was already learning! Well surely you can't fail to learn from a man with a PhD in fish behaviour!

As the book went on I continued to learn, whether it was about how my bait dispersed or how my tackle looks on the lake or river bed, I am now a better angler for reading this book.

Both Alex and I were impressed by the high quality photographs throughout the book, especially as some of the underwater ones will have been taken in low light conditions. The shots of fish underwater were just incredible. We were also surprised by how easy the book was to read and how the images were laid out perfectly with the text. We could tell some serious thought had gone into the creation of this book.

Good job Paul and Stuart!

To order or find out more, click here: http://www.drpaulgarner.co.uk/books

Price: £24.99
Our Rating: 10/10
